Batch Photo Upload

Modified on Thu, 31 Oct at 2:44 PM

Depending on your photo vendor, you may have the option to download photos directly formatted for Follett Destiny. If not, you will need to prepare them for upload. The zipped folder must include the photos under 20 KB in size and a text file called “idlink.txt.”

  • Photo files supported: .jpg, .jpeg, and .png

Word of caution, before performing a large import, check with one student to make sure the photo size and idlink.txt files are properly formatted.

Prepping the folder:

  1. Create a folder that will hold all the photos and text file.

  1. The photos must not be larger than 20KB to avoid an error message from Destiny

(Error message: Warning Line 1 is not correctly formatted)

  1. Create a .txt file name idlink.txt that will map student ID to photo name. Each ID number and corresponding photo name must be in a seperate line.

(Example:    123456,123456.jpg     or    123456,name.jpg    )

                    123457,123457.jpg     or    123457,name2.jpg

  1. Once the photos and text file are ready, compress/zip the folder.

Uploading to Destiny

  1. In Destiny, click on the Admin tab

  1. On the left, click on the Upload Patron Pictures

  1. Click on Choose File to find your zipped folder

  1. You will now be in the Job Manager window in Destiny. After a short time you will see the job was Completed. To confirm the upload was successful click on the View icon to view the details.

If you have question, please reach out (Sal Rodriguez Ext 3435). I also have some PowerShell scripts that will remove unwanted characters from .txt files and to pull photos from folders and its subfolders to speed up the process.
